Many people wonder if a Ferret will get along with other common pets, like your resident cat or dog.  Of course there are different factors that can play a part in the union of a friendship between different species.  One is the age of the pets involved.  Usually the younger the animals are, the easier it is for them to develop a trusting friendship with one another.  Another factor is temperament.  A laid back dog or cat will usually adjust very well to other animals and to children.  If you’re sitting on the fence with adopting a Ferret because of your current pet, consider their temperament or their age.  You might try introducing your pets together in small doses to see how they get along and keep an eye on them.  If you have a dog or cat, put them on a leash so that if things are a little tense, you can pull them back and give everyone a some space.  There are many successful friendships between all sorts of animals.  Just take a look at a few of these happy couples.
